Advising

Academic Advising Center

The Academic Advising Center has university- and nationally-recognized advisors who conduct more than 30,000 advising sessions annually, with more via email, phone, workshops, and events. Our advisors assist students with the enhancement of their undergraduate experience and personal development. Through individual academic advising and innovative educational programming, we foster a culture of proactive behavior, intentional decision-making, and responsibility among our students. We encourage our students to maximize their individual potential through both their coursework and their co-curricular opportunities. Our goal is to inspire students to engage fully in their education, develop a global awareness, and embrace their future.

Additional Advising Services

Beyond120 Career Readiness

Beyond120 is a program designed to promote experiential learning and career readiness in UF College of Liberal Arts and Sciences undergraduates. A career and professional development curriculum connects the learning experiences in the classroom with experiential education opportunities outside the classroom. We enhance undergraduate coursework with international exchange programs for global education. We coordinate internships with our alumni to mentor undergraduates on the importance and value of work experience, research, shadowing, and the development of leadership skills.

The Dean’s Medal for Excellence in Liberal Arts and Sciences

The Dean’s Medal goes beyond the basic minimums that are required of all students, and recognizes those CLAS graduates who have gone above and beyond in their pursuit of knowledge in liberal arts and sciences.

Exploratory

Statistics show that 38% of UF students change their major by the end of their first year, and 61% of UF students change their major by the end of their second year. The AAC provides academic and personal assistance to students in any of the three exploratory tracks (Science and Engineering, Humanities and Letters, or Social and Behavioral).

Pre-Health Advising

Pre-Health advisors assist and support students in a holistic process of education and preparation to achieve the most competitive application for admission as is possible by the individual student. We advise all UF students who are interested in pursuing careers in medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine, optometry, pharmacy, physician assistant, physical therapy, and occupational therapy. See our main page for more information including how to see a pre-health advisor.

Pre-Law Advising

Pre-Law advisors assist you as you pursue your legal career goals. Our pre-law services provide information on exploring the law career field, determining when to begin the application process, and also narrowing down which institutions will be a good fit. We offer individual appointments through walk-ins and by appointment throughout the year. The pre-law advisors also host workshops about exploring careers in law, personal statements, and the application process. Join the pre-law listserv to keep yourself up-to-date on pre-law information. We look forward to visiting with you soon!
