As one of the original colleges at the University of Florida, Liberal Arts and Sciences embraces both tradition and forward-thinking. As the largest college at the University of Florida, we are always on the move, making strides with innovations in teaching and research. As the college with the most international programs, our reach is global.
The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences is home to the humanities, the social and behavioral sciences, and the physical, natural, and mathematical sciences. We are charged with the responsibility of teaching the majority of the University’s core curriculum each year.
Excellent classroom education is a priority, as is a focus on development outside of the classroom. Our college has the highest number of volunteers at the university. We encourage undergraduate research. There is a focus on preparing students for future careers, and we actively engage alumni to support students through internship and mentoring opportunities.
Our students go on to become anthropologists and biologists, chemists and doctors, economists and financial planners, geologists and historians, information technologists and judges, kendo masters and lawyers, mathematicians and neurologists, obstetricians and philosophers, quantitative analysts and radiologists, senators and teachers, underwriters and virologists, weathercasters and x-ray technicians, yogis and zoologists. These and so many more journeys begin here.
