Galloway McFarland Family Scholarship | Early January – February 23 & Early September – October 31

Award amount: $3,000 per semester


Qualifications

The Galloway McFarland Family Scholarship is awarded to CLAS undergraduate transfer students with financial need. This award may be renewable based on academic performance for up to two years.

  • Must be a student who transferred into UF from another institution (with preference from those transferring from a college in the Florida College System.)
  • Must be a student in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
  • Must be enrolled full-time in the semester following your application.
  • Must have a FAFSA on file to demonstrate financial need.

To apply, prepare the following items then click “Apply Now” below. Applications are available during the fall (early September – October 31) and spring (early January – February 23) semesters. Required Essay

As a transfer student, you bring a unique perspective shaped by your previous academic experiences and personal growth. In a well-organized essay, please address the following:

  • Your Academic Journey: Describe your educational path. What motivated you to choose UF CLAS, and how have your experiences at your transfer institution influenced your choice of major?
  • Goals and Aspirations: Discuss your academic and career goals. How do you believe transferring to UF CLAS will help you achieve these objectives?
  • Personal Growth: Share an obstacle or challenge you have faced during your academic journey. How did this experience shape you, and what lessons did you learn that you will carry forward into your next chapter?

Guidelines

  • Your essay should be a maximum of 500 words in length (may be submitted in .doc, .docx, or .pdf during the online application).
  • Please use clear and concise language, and ensure your essay is well-structured with an introduction, body, and conclusion.
  • Be authentic and let your personality shine through; we want to get to know you beyond your academic achievements.
