Sustainability European-Style: Urban Farming, Alternative Food Economies, and the Politics of Civic Participation

This presentation will focus on the urban farming movement in Eastern Europe/Lithuania as an entry point for discussing the politics and practice of sustainability in the European Union (EU), particularly in relation to food self-provisioning, climate change and civic engagement. It will also consider regional differences and inequalities across the EU as well as the role of gender and generational divides in the EU’s sustainability politics.
