Teaching and Advising Awards

Teacher/Adviser of the Year Awards for 2023-2024

UF is continuing the Teacher/Adviser of the Year Awards for 2023-2024. The criteria for awards and eligibility, as well as a description of the application process, are available at http://aa.ufl.edu/awards/uf-internal-awards/teacher–adviser-of-the-year/. Please inform your faculty of this competition and these guidelines. Please note that the competition now comprises three categories:

  1. Undergraduate Teaching Award
2023-24 Nomination Form – Teaching Award
  2. Professional Adviser Award (Academic Advising)
2023-24 Nomination Form – Professional Adviser Award
  3. Faculty Advising/Mentor Award (departments, centers, and programs)
2023-24 Nomination Form – Faculty Advising and Mentor Award

This year CLAS teachers and advisers will receive a total of 7 awards. All college-level winners will receive a $2,000 award, and three of these recipients will be eligible to compete for an additional $4,000 award in the university-level competition. The CLAS deadline for nominations is November 17, 2023. Nominees must notify Jane Santos of their intention to apply by December 4, 2023, and final portfolios will be due on January 5, 2024. This will allow sufficient time for review, selection, and submission of nominations to the university-level competition in January. Note that the college deadline supersedes the January 19, 2024, deadline set at the university level. All materials, including nomination forms, should be submitted to Jane Santos (jane.santos@ufl.edu)

Please note that winners of teaching or advising awards in the 2021-2022 and 2022-2023 competitions are not eligible this year.

I ask that you and your faculty encourage students to submit nominations for these awards. Note that undergraduate coordinators can often be helpful in this effort.

If you have any further questions about the competition, please call me at 392-2230.

Mary Watt, CLAS Associate Dean
