UF to Hold Conference on Conservation and Development, Latin America and Africa

January 26, 2010

The University of Florida will host an international conference, “Bridging Conservation and Development in Latin America and Africa: Changing Contexts, Changing Strategies,” from January 28 to 30. The conference is jointly sponsored by the UF Center for Latin American Studies and the UF Center for African Studies, with partial support from a Mellon-LASA (Latin American Studies Association) Seminars grant. This event has been organized by UF’s Tropical Conservation and Development Program (TCD).

The conference will bring together conservation and development experiences from Africa and Latin America to discuss and compare emerging trends, as well as share stories of success and failure. These exchanges will facilitate mutual learning among the participants. The exchange of information also will serve as a foundation to strengthen collaboration between the regions and help define long-lasting solutions to advance conservation and economic development.

On-site registration (cash or check payments only) will be available. For more information, visit http://conference.ifas.ufl.edu/tcd/.
